Prema Hummingbirds Mutual Aid
After running a successful spring and summer food service program, we are currently developing our Prema Hummingbirds Mutual Aid Fund.
Prema Hummingbirds Mutual Aid:
Yoga is about relationship and the interconnectedness of all beings. Through the establishment of this mutual aid as an extension of our yoga studio, we acknowledge how interwoven our health, dignity and well-being are. If each neighborhood stepped out within a small radius, not only are we able to serve each other, but the relationships formed tune us into the very best of ourselves and humanity. We seek to bridge the gap between an insular and self-serving world and one that thrives on the beauty of connection, community and the meeting each other’s needs with humility and presence.
Our goal with PHMA is to create a specific partnership of volunteer/s and household within our neighborhood. Our initial project is to assist with food security and the distribution of monthly groceries based on a personal list provided by each individual family/household. As we grow and relationships develop, our path of support can widen into elder companionship, more acute family support and ways to gather, animal welfare and more.
Our Fulton studio, located on the border of Clinton Hill and Bed-Stuy, will be the hub where we facilitate this program. We will also put out a call for non-perishable donations, reusable bags, and volunteers so that we can reduce the cost we are outlying per delivery and get more people involved! It is at the heart of our program to foster connection and trust with each and every person receiving the support.
Please spread the word, and if you can give anything, we accept it humbly at the link above and will update here and on our website with how the project is going in all its various stages. Transparency is our utmost priority.
Prema Hummingbirds is a 501c3 mutual aid organization of Prema Yoga Brooklyn & Home where we use our space, community of volunteers, and financial resources to foster connection, companionship, provide basic provisions and support one project at a time.
We, as hummingbirds do, attempt to lean in softly wherever there is a need honoring our connection and interdependence as unique beings.
