Yoga For Men
with Alejandro Zaballero
Men’s Asana Workshop
This workshop will focus on the study and application of key alignment techniques in the physical practice of yoga, with a focus on the needs and issues of the male yogi.
While the practice of yoga is universal, men have not only a separate physiology that informs asana poses and physical practice, but also particular issues relating to injuries, joint stability and the process of aging. These aspects of the male practice are not generally addressed in regular yoga classes, so this workshop will look to access them in a comfortable, open setting.
Over the course of the workshop, we’ll do the following:
— Discuss the aspects of the physical practice that are particular to men
— Get introduced to some key alignment, muscular and mental asana techniques
— Apply these to basic asana poses, and study how these can lead to greater strength and joint stability
— Apply these to an advanced pose, and study how these can power the pose and foster fearlessness
— Wrap with a clinic format where we open to questions, tackle specific issues and work on refining techniqueThis workshop will focus on the study and application of key alignment techniques in the physical practice of yoga, with a focus on the needs and issues of the male yogi.

BIO: Alejandro walked into his first yoga class in 1999, hoping to impress a girl. He didn’t get the girl. Instead, proving that the universe is super sneaky when it wants you on the enlightenment path, he discovered a practice that reshaped his being and guides his journey through the world. Alejandro’s practice is informed by the Jivamukti, Iyengar and Ashtanga lineages, by the teachings of Tibetan Buddhism, and by teacher training in the Conquering Lion Yoga school. Alejandro strives to practice asana energetically and joyfully, powered by a deep-seated sense of gratitude to all his teachers and by a rigorous adherence to alignment and technique.
When he’s not on his mat, Alejandro is an architect and photographer, and lives in Brooklyn with his wife and son.
