The Four Pillars Of Yoga

with Kaustubha Das

Yoga is a practice which empowers one to overcome the obstacle of the mind for the purpose of the self experiencing its own true nature.” - Kaustubha das

This very practical class will explain the four yoga paths – Ashtanga-yoga, Jnana Yoga, Karma-yoga & Bhakti-yoga, clarifying what share in common and what distinguishes them from the others, how it all relates to asana practice, as well as which elements of these paths are most practical for deepening one’s own yoga practice in today’s world.

Students will be better prepared to interpret yoga teachings for themselves by gaining an understanding of the most fundamental concepts of yoga through the Bhagavad-gita, yoga’s most essential text.

Subjects to be covered include:

  • The true nature of the self

  • How we lose touch with our true nature

  • Essentially the mind is just a computer

  • The forces that govern our world (karma, time & the 3 modes of nature)

  • 4 paths to freedom
